4 Victims Shot at Howe Park Sacramento — Unsanctioned Gathering Ends in Shooting

Saturday night, an unlawful gathering of hundreds of people at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area ended in a shooting when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots echoed through the area as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were attempting to removing people from the park.

The Incident

Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office got reports concerning people potentially carrying concealed firearms at the park. Another caller mentioned a possible physical altercation and individuals running from the park.

Aerial units was utilized and surveyed the area from above but did not locate any ongoing altercation.

However, an estimated several hundred attendees had congregated at Howe Park for what deputies referred to as an unauthorized event. Responding deputies surrounded the park, activated their vehicle emergency lights, and gave the crowd approximately 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse via loudspeaker announcements.

As deputies were in the process of dispersing attendees, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds rang out — sending the crowd scattering in a panic.

The Victims

Four shooting website victims check here — three men and one woman, all in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two sustained immediate injuries, one suffered moderate injuries, here and one had minor injuries. Each of the four victims was in stable condition. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire responded and assisted with triage at the incident scene.

The Crime Scene

The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way corridor side of the park near the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. The Home Depot store was temporarily locked down. Extra shell casings were recovered from Cottage Way, check here with bullet impacts found in the wrought iron fence surrounding the Home Depot — suggesting gunfire directed south from the Cottage Way area toward the store. Crime scene investigators and detectives worked the scene throughout the night.

Suspect Information

Over law enforcement radio traffic, it was reported that a vehicle of interest — described as a Kia vehicle — was contacted in the Solano County area with four occupants detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's units were sent to transport the website suspects back and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Video analysis confirmed two gunmen were present.
